Mark Hermann

Nestled into Manhattan bedrock beneath a 100+ year old Harlem brownstone, The Dungeon Studios is the place I call home. It is a full service facility with complete live tracking, mixing, editing and sound design capability, running Pro Tools HD 2. While I did cut my teeth at New York's famed Right Track Recording, I have always preferred to create and record music where the artist feels most comfortable and free to express themselves. Typically, this happens anywhere but the conventional recording studio.

Maybe I was smitten after seeing the seminal documentary, Music From Big Pink, about the making of The Band's most famous album, but  I have spent the better part of my career recording artists in interesting places that would qualify as the anti-studio; log cabins, mansions, barns, lofts, clubs and yes, basements.  In the end, the only thing that matters is the end result; does it sound great? If yes, then nobody cares how you did it. This is my joy. (Not to mention that when you finish up after a really late night, the commute home is only a few flights of stairs).

The Dungeon welcomes inquiries for all recording and production projects and  can deliver final product in any and all file formats. Rates are upon request. We look forward to working with you on your next project.
