Father Oblivion was a New York-based rock 'n roll band that followed after the break up of my group, The Fire Ants. Personnel were Al Fritsch on vocals and keyboards, Eric Massimino on bass, Wes Lyttle on drums and Mark Hermann on guitar. The Father Oblivion CD came out in 2001. While the group didn't really have a chance to get off the ground, they made a very inspired CD, which garnered some positive industry reviews.
The music is a dynamic combination of classic and Southern rock, blues, country and even a little '60s psychedelia for good measure. The subject matter of these songs runs the gamut from alien abduction to good time road songs to rage against the rage. You can hear the inspiration of the legends from The Stones, Jimi, The Beatles, The Who to The Black Crows, Stevie Ray, and maybe even a bit of Tool. It may well be one of the better CDs you've never heard. It's well worth a listen.
